平地機刀片裝置是平地機的主要工作裝置，與其它輔助裝置相互配合能夠進行土壤的切削、刮送和整平作業，還可進行砂石路麵、礫石路麵、路基路麵的整形和維修，表層土或草皮的剝離、挖溝、修刮邊坡等平整作業，以及完成材料的混合、回填、推移、攤平等作業。下麵分別就鏟刀的結構、工作原理及尺寸的確定做一下交流。
１、鏟刀的結構和工作原理：
鏟刀的結構如圖ａ所示。牽引架５的前端是個鉸接球，與前車架的前端鉸接相連，後端固定回轉圈１２，通過升降油缸６、７和擺架與平地機前車架相連，鏟刀９與回轉圈８連接，在回轉驅動裝置４的驅動下帶動鏟刀回轉。鏟刀背麵的側移油缸１１推動鏟刀沿滑軌１０做側向滑動。切削角調節油缸３可以改變鏟刀的鏟土角。因此，平地機鏟刀能夠進行升降、傾斜、側移、引出和３６０°回轉等運動，其位置可以在較大範圍內調整，以滿足平地機平地、切削、側麵移土、路基成形、邊坡修整等作業。

２、鏟刀尺寸的確定：
２．１鏟刀長度Ｌ的確定
平地機在施工時，不但要切削土層，並且還要連續不斷地把土側移到平地機行駛路線的外側。因此，鏟刀長度Ｌ就是由鏟刀切土部分長度Ｉｌ和非切土部分長度Ｉ２組成，如圖ｂ所示。
鏟刀切土部分長度ｌ可由公式求得如下：

鏟刀相對於牽引架兩邊的側移量，相對於輕型、中型、重型、超重型平地機分別不小於５００ｍｍ、７００ｍｍ、８００ｍｍ和８５０ｍｍ。
